Many of the older people in the community should no longer be driving to Moscow or anywhere out of town.
The park and ride could be helpful as well. With so many of our citizens of the community, it would certainly save on gas. Potlatch is fortunate to have a core group of very generous folks who are dedicated to community improvement. It is impressive to realize how much has been accomplished (largely by their efforts) in the past decade- library, parks, baseball fields, city hall, depot, arts events, etc.
Monte & HelenMonte Wilsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00712891890643911614noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4099712203277745669.post-29182447460786073612007-10-15T15:00:00.000-07:002007-10-15T15:00:00.000-07:00I surely do appreciate the day-to-day photos, espe...I surely do appreciate the day-to-day photos, especially the close-ups showing the hip roof braces, cross-bucked pocket doors, etc. When the entire depot was faded and gray, it was difficult to fully appreciate the fine architecture of our depot.

I'm also pleased to see the red and green colors are pleasant to the eye and go well together, and won't be mistaken for Christmas colors!

The depot's resurrection had been a long time coming!! Jack Coyner submitted the Enhancement Grant application in February, 2001 and I signed the depot purchase documents in late July of that year. It sure does my heart good to know that so many others will now appreciate the depot, too.

Thanks Jack, Don, and everyone associated with this project for the past 6+ years, our HPG members, private and business donors, and government officials for their good work, support, generosity, prayers, articles, WPQ's, phone calls, encouragement, this blog space, the videos, the photos--a project this size literally takes a village to raise.

Okay, so when will we have a platform to sit upon and toast our success? I've developed a powerful thirst for a hoppy beverage these past 6 years, 2 months, and 22 days!

Then on to Phase II!!!

Jim Westwimryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04976099087932488867noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4099712203277745669.post-78398845159858974112007-10-08T20:23:00.000-07:002007-10-08T20:23:00.000-07:00Just a clarification on today's photos. That will be corrected in the near future and the doors will be green. Built in 1906, it was designed by C. Ferris White, a noted Spokane architect. White also designed the other prominent buildings around Potlatch, and happily, the three anchor buildings --the depot, city hall and the gymnasium--are still standing. City Hall has already been restored, and now the depot!!!!! Each day, the depot changes as it is being brought back to life. Today they will be working on the green window trim, and soon the barn red paint will be applied. Keep watching!!!Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06757739438113138564noreply@blogger.com
